The TaylorMade P770 2020 Iron Set offers a thoughtful blend of distance and precision, catering to skilled players who appreciate a balance of modern engineering and traditional sensibilities. Right from my first swing, the SpeedFoam technology and the thin face design became apparent, the irons delivering a satisfying mix of power and control in a compact form factor. The forged hollow-body construction, fortified with up to 46g of tungsten, effectively lowers the center of gravity, enhancing forgiveness without compromising the classic iron feel.
The Progressive Inverted Cone Technology is where these irons particularly shine. It subtly aids in maintaining accuracy and boosting ball speed, even when my swing wasn't perfect. This makes every round a little more forgiving while still challenging me to play my best game. I noticed the P770s offer a higher launch with increased spin, providing excellent control and stopping power on the greens—a true asset for those tricky approaches.
Visually, the sleek chrome finish is nothing short of elegant, adding a touch of sophistication to my setup. The traditional forged feel is a delight for purists, offering precision and a softer touch that feels right at home with every strike. While they indeed demand a higher skill level and aren't as forgiving as some alternatives, the ball speed retention on mis-hits is impressive and reassuring.
Overall, if you relish the finesse of shaping shots and savor the nuanced feel of a crisp iron, the P770s make every practice session or round a rewarding experience.
