The Masters is the most sought-after golfing event of the year on the PGA Tour. The best players in the world convene at what many regard as the mecca of golf, the Augusta National Golf Club, in an attempt to earn the right to don the green jacket.

A win at the Masters etches a player's name in the history of golf forever. As a way to pay homage to some of the most recent winners, ahead of this year's edition, we put together a golf bag inspired by the clubs of the past champions:

  • Ping G400 LST Driver
  • TaylorMade SIM Max Fairway Wood
  • TaylorMade SIM UDI Hybrid
  • Callaway Apex Pro Forged Irons
  • TaylorMade Milled Grind Wedges
  • TaylorMade Spider Tour Putter

Ping G400 LST Driver - Patrick Reed, 2018

Patrick Reed is a controversial personality in the eyes of many golf fans, but no one can deny his natural ability and skills when it comes to the golf course. Playing on his home course (Reed attended Augusta State University in 2010 and 2011), Reed was able to break through and become a major champion.

His Ping G400 LST driver was a staple in his bag for a long time following his victory.  The low-spin trajectory of the G400 LST allowed Reed to be precise with his drives, a key advantage for any golfer looking to have success at the Masters.

TaylorMade SIM Max Fairway Wood - Dustin Johnson, 2020

Dustin Johnson’s victory at the 2020 Masters was a long time in the making and happened at one of the most memorable Masters of all time. Indeed, Johnson shattered the tournament record during a special Autumn edition due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

A lot of the talk that week was around Johnson’s TaylorMade SIM Max 7-wood. This type of fairway wood is rarely seen in the bag of professional golfers, but Jonhson found it to be the perfect tool to negotiate Augusta’s sneaky slopes.

TaylorMade SIM UDI Hybrid - Hideki Matsuyama, 2021

The most recent Masters champion, Hideki Matsuyama, became the first Asian golfer to win the Masters and the first Japanese golfer to win a major. The most memorable picture from his victory was Matsuyama’s caddie bowing to the course after collecting the flag on the 18th hole.

Despite being a Srixon ambassador, Hideki was able to rely on his TaylorMade SIM UDI driving iron to deal with the sharp curves of Augusta National. The SIM UDI is the forgiving model out of the TaylorMade line of driving irons perfect for golfers who struggle with swing consistency.

Callaway Apex Pro Forged Iron Set - Danny Willett, 2016

Probably the most surprising Masters winner of the past decade, Danny Willett seemingly came out of nowhere to get his hands on the green jacket in 2016. Willett benefited from Jordan Spieth’s historical collapse on Sunday to secure the victory.

A Callaway athlete, Willett’s bag was filled with Callaway clubs and he was flawless with his irons on Sunday. The Callaway Apex Pro Irons are targeted at players who tend to have decent ball striking with their irons as they’re not highly forgiving.

  • Callaway Apex Pro 21
  • Callaway Apex Pro 19
  • Callaway Apex Pro 16

TaylorMade Milled Grind Wedge - Tiger Woods, 2019

Perhaps the most memorable recent win in the heart of golfers, Tiger Woods captured his fifth title at Augusta, 11 years after his last major victory and 14 after his last win at the Masters. The only win that could one-up this one in terms of emotional value would be a sixth green jacket for Tiger.

His knowledge of the Augusta greens definitely helped him, but his work with the TaylorMade Milled Grind wedges was key to him securing his victory. Stopping a golf ball on the greens at the Masters is a challenge in itself, but Tiger maximized his Milled Grind wedges to get close to the pins.

TaylorMade Spider Tour Putter - Sergio Garcia, 2017

With his 2017 victory, Sergio Garcia became the first Spanish golfer to win the Masters since his childhood hero, Seve Ballesteros, had last done it in 1983. Garcia’s win still stands as his only major title to date, but what a memorable one it was.

Sergio sunk his winning putt on the first playoff hole against Justin Rose with his TaylorMade Spider Tour putter. The Spider Tour putters have since then become iconic and are still popular amongst PGA players, most notably in the bag of fellow Masters champion, Dustin Johnson.
